Hermes Birkin 40

The Hermes Birkin is undoubtedly the rarest and most exclusive bag on the market today. Made with the finest Hermes craftsmanship, this Birkin in veau barenia leather with palladium plated hardware is a particularly striking edition of this handbag. In excellent condition (see condition description), the hardware of this Birkin still has intact much of its original protective covering, as can be seen from the photos.

The crème de la crème of all handbags, the Birkin’s history is legendary. The chief executive of Hermes was seated next to style icon Jane Birkin on a plane in the 1980s when Jane complained of never having a weekend bag that was sizey and practical – so he designed her the perfect bag for her and named it in her honour. But the perfect bag doesn’t come easily, with Hermes producing only a limited edition each year and waiting lists stretching into years - for those who can obtain one at all.

Features: Veau barenia leather in “natural fauve” hue with rolled double top handles; palladium plated hardware; padlock and hanging clochette; flap top with leather strap closure and rotating clasp; leather interior compartment with interior zipper pocket and slip pocket.

Measurements: 40 cm (length) x 21 cm (width at base) x 30 cm (height at body).

Condition: Excellent condition. The original silhouette of the bag has been maintained perfectly. The exterior is in excellent condition overall. There is the occasional light small indentation to the front, but this is barely noticeable (or for some, this would not be noticeable at all). The leather has no noteworthy scratches, any such wear is extremely light or not noticeable at all. The veau barenia leather maintains its original “natural fauve” colour, with some really light unevenness in the colouring throughout (see photo 6) which commonly occurs in this type of leather.

The hardware is in fantastic condition and much of the hardware has its original protective covering intact, as can be seen from the photos. The interior is in as-new condition.
